| This article provides an analysis of the use of periphrases (i.e., circumlocutory expressions) of the thematic group “feelings and emotional conditions” in the literature of the late seventeenth to early nineteenth centuries. The topics cov- ered include imaginative models of periphrases and the peculiarities of their use by representatives of classicism and sentimentalism. |
