This article aims at analysing the impact of G. Paul’s scientific ideas on the development of anthropocentric, cognitive linguistics in both Russia and Europe. The anthropocentric and activity approaches to the study of lan- guage are related, particularly when one considers language as that of an individual, the product of the individual experience of a person. This approach was formulated by the German linguist Herman Paul (1846-1921) in Princi- ples of the history of language (1920). |
