The article explores a version of the myth about Ariadne which serves as the basis for an opera and has been chosen by Hofmannsthal and R.Strauss for interpretation of salvatory love theme. Ariadne became the celestial wife of Bacchus, who bestowed a new life upon her, while in the terrestrial world Ariadne remained faithful to Theseus. |
