180-185 | Nizhni Novgorod, descendants of Gengis Khan, Russia in the 16th – 17th centuries. |
This article is an attempt to determine the influence of Nizhni Novgorod on the destinies of Tatar noblemen (tsars and tsareviches) in Russia at the turn of the 17th century. Until the early 17th century the city was the eastern gate to Russia on the main trade and diplomacy routes to the Caucasus, Siberia and Central Asia. Therefore, it was not accidental that some noblemen had their temporary residence there. |
