The American Southern theme in M. Mitchell’s world-known best-seller Gone with the Wind (1936) is analyzed in the context of «Southern» literary tradition. A review is given of the Western and Russian criticism of the novel. We also examine the author’s stance, and Gone with the Wind’s poetics that distinguishes it from other «Southern» novels of 1930s. |
