| The article examines the founding and the early history of Nizhni Novgorod. Nizhni Novgorod was the last city to be founded in pre-Mongol Rus’. Archaeological study of this subject is difficult, therefore, a comprehensive research of archaeological data, chronicles and the history of the cities in the Upper Volga and Oka region is required. In this study, we present a critical review of unreliable texts about the history of Nizhni Novgorod and related stereotypes. |
