The article highlights main processes that took place in Greece during the 7th - 6th centuries B.C. (the last half of the Archaic epoch). The author demonstrates how at that time crucial changes in the Greek world happened, which led to the emergence of the Classical polis-type civilization. Special attention is given to archaeological data that for this phase of Hellenic history are of particular value in the body of sources. |
