This article examines virtue epistemology (VE), a popular theory of modern Anglo-American philosophy. Two main versions of VE - reliabilism and responsibilism - are considered. The notions of knowledge and intellectual virtue are studied. Implications of VE for modern philosophy of education are analyzed. The importance of developing intellectual virtues in the process of teaching is substantiated. The main criticisms against using the implications of VE in education are analyzed. The connection between VE and the theory of developmental education of Elkonin-Davydov is shown. |
