We have studied the flower morphology and reproductive biology of tropical orchids Microterangis hariotiana (Kraenzl.) Sengha. It is assumed that flowers are pollinated by some unknown mosquitoes. The mechanism of active transfer of pollinia on the body of the assumed pollinator and the mechanism of active transfer of pollinia into stigma are described, as well as self-pollination by water droplets. Seed productivity of the fruit is established. |
