The article reveals the relationship between employee motivation, employee loyalty and nature of professional activity. We consider the notion of "motivational readiness" as a key characteristic of the employee motivation. We conducted a survey to measure motivational readiness on representatives of various professional groups. Employee motivation is more evident in the groups of top and middle managers, office specialists and service workers and it is less evident in the groups of drivers and workers. We show that the relationship between motivational readiness, job satisfaction and loyalty to the organization is not linear. We found no direct relation between employee motivation and the wage rate.
