This article presents some results of research on the effectiveness of managers in the context of modernization of the Russian industry. Organizational culture of domestic enterprises needs to be changed in the direction of the market-adhocratic type, which is the type most adequate to innovation economy. Based on empirical data, we describe a set of psychological characteristics of managers that are effective in these conditions. This set has provided the basis for the guidelines for developing and testing a program for psychological training of managers.
