The aim of this article is to justify, based on an analysis of scientific sociological literature including the classics and modern scholars, the existence of a scientific problem, which is expressed in a lack of sociological knowledge about the factors of social welfare in the framework of existing objectivist and subjectivist approaches. The author presents an analysis of theoretical approaches to the study of social well-being, reveals some contradictions underlying the research problem, which is expressed in the lack and contradictory nature of sociological knowledge about the factors of well-being, about the impact of social changes on the subjective well-being of an individual and about the correlation of social and individual well-being. The need to develop a comprehensive integrative model of social well-being is substantiated.
