The article analyzes the role of art in shaping the image of a professional. The debatable nature of the problem of professional competence of psychologists in modern social and cultural conditions is noted, which influences the shaping of a professional’s image in society. A brief description of the typology of a psychologist’s image existing in ordinary consciousness is given. The results of research of a professional and personal portrait of the psychologist being one of characters in the works of modern fiction are presented.
