We propose a methodology for conducting research and independent work by students on the basis of the author's manuals adapted to the educational process. The requirements to such manuals are listed. We describe the interaction between the teacher and students that reflects the systems approach to the use of active learning methods during classes. It is shown that the teaching of students on the basis of adapted author's manuals stimulates their active research work resulting in publications in scientific journals and proceedings of national and international conferences, thus contributing to the quality of their training.
