The article discusses the use of pedagogical features of the project method in teaching primary school students the elements of geometry with the use of educational software. With the account of these features, a program of extracurricular activities for students of grades II - IV is presented, which contains a set of projects based on geometric material and the guidelines for the organization of work on such projects. The methodological effectiveness of the proposed recommendations for the implementation of project-based training with elements of geometry in extracurricular activities is shown.
