Abstract
Multilayer nanoperiodic structures a -Ge/SiO 2 have been deposited by electron-beam evaporation from separate sources. A phase transition of a -Ge layers into Ge nanocrystal (NC) arrays under annealing conditions has been found by electron microscopy. NC formation temperatures 600 - 900?C have been obtained by IR-transmission and Raman scattering. The luminescence band in the range of 450 - 600 nm at room temperature has been detected.
