Abstract
A scheme for the experimental verification of the ultrafast inverse Faraday effect is proposed. The scheme is based on the registration of terahertz Cherenkov radiation from a moving magnetic moment induced by a femtosecond laser pulse in a layer of magneto-optic material. The radiation is led out from the layer through a matching prism. Our calculations have shown the detectability of radiation for a terbium gallium garnet slab covered with a sapphire prism.
