| The article deals with the main approaches to the famous Meacenas’ speech in Dio Cassius’ «Roman history», which contains the praise of the advantages of monarchy and the reform project. According to the well-reasoned interpretation, the speech reflects the program of Dio himself. Therefore, the main purpose of the article is to reveal the political meaning of the oration by examining how its proposals could correlate with the peculiarities of the political life under Severans. |
