Abstract
In this paper, we attempted to identify psycho-physiological markers of linguistic competence and individual optimal functional states for doing linguistic tasks in English by learners from a specialized linguistic school. A direct correlation was found between the four parameters of the sound localization function (SLF) and different parameters of the linguistic competence. The level of development of the English language was significantly higher in the third-grade students who had left hemisphere dominance in terms of SLF.
