We analyze some problems of the mediation institution and restorative justice development within the framework of school mediation services. Foreign and Russian experience demonstrates the effectiveness of the results of mediation as one of the most powerful tools of restorative justice. However, the implementation of this innovation in Russia is quite problematic without an active support on the part of the state On the other hand, the use of the basic principles of mediation can prevent school mediation procedure from turning into a formal bureaucratic mechanism.
