Abstract
In experiments with rats, the effect of additional lighting in the vivarium on the vegetative status of animals is studied using heart rate variability as an indicator. It has been found that short daylight hours and low light illumination lead to a decrease in vegetative reactivity in rats, which is characterized by a predominance of vagotonic activity and the lack of response to the orthostatic test. Increasing the length of daylight and enhancing the level of illumination increase sympathetic activity of the vegetative tonus and restore adequate responses of animals to the orthostatic test.
