The concept «American South» in W. Faulkner’s «The Unvanquished» (1938) is analyzed in the article. The features typical for Southern literary tradition have been revealed. At the same time it is shown that the novel is not bounded within the frames of «Sothern canon». The author transforms the «Southern myth» into the universal tragedy where there are neither righteous nor guilty people. |
