The subject of the article is the composition of the “Spiritual Odes” in the editions of Lomonosov’s works published during his lifetime. It is similar to the ideological structure of the biblical Book of Job: the sufferings and complains of the righteous, the admonishing speech of the God, and the man’s declaration of his limited knowledge and of the wisdom of the Creator. The key piece of work here is the “Ode selected from Job” which allows us to judge the attitude of Lomonosov towards different traditions of interpreting The Book of Job.
