Access to information and gradual transition to information society at the present stage of high technology development have put important tasks before higher educational establishments providing journalism training. Representatives of the media business and the academic community are interested in forming a joint approach to the requirements of professional competence of journalism department graduates. Relevance of the issue on a set of competencies, the development of which is necessary in the light of future journalists of modern trends of journalism education, the social mission of the press and the requirements of employers.
