25-31 | Napoleonic Wars, early Russian conservatives, conspiracy theory, Alexander Polev |
The judgments of provincial activist Alexander Polev on the eve of 1812 reveal the views of some early Russian conservatives in a grotesque manner. The reverse side in the construction of a «people's war» was the construction of a global conspiracy aimed at blurring distinctions and subordination to Enlightenment philosophers' universal abstractions. Ghosts of total war, in turn, impelled some politicians to populism for the sake of general mobilization. |
