| The article examines the participation of plebs urbana in the Roman Civil war in 88-82 BC. Based on the analysis of ancient narrative tradition, the author demonstrates that plebs urbana was mostly active at the first stage of the civil war (88-87 BC, during the struggle for P. Sulpicius and L.Cinna bills). However, the plebs became less active during the siege of Rome by Marius and Cinna, as it could not fight against a regular army. The same is true for the following period of the civil war. |
