106-112 | N. Kareev, World War I, German captivity, scientific community in the conditions of war, patriotism, chauvinism |
The author reconstructs a little-known part of the biography of the famous Russian historian-humanist Nikolay Kareev (1850-1931) relating to his five-week German captivity in 1914. Kareev’s views on war as a sociocultural and historical phenomenon and his stance in the discussion of scientific community’s attitude towards war are also analyzed. |
