Abstract
The article examines all references to non-Slavic peoples of Eastern Europe which are found in the tale of chivalry «Deeds of Hungarians» written by an unknown notary of B?la III at the beginning of the 13th century. These references include both the indisputable ethnonyms and the hypothetical names of the nationalities who lived at that time to the east and south from the borders of ancient Russia.
