In this paper, we take a look at the history of development of legal education in the Gorky region. This process is considered in connection with the needs of the development of the Soviet State. We examine the content of educational programs, some issues concerning the logistics support for the learning process and the work of the faculty members to develop a high level of culture in future lawyers. Of considerable interest are the author’s personal recollections about the Gorky Faculty of the All-Union Correspondence Institute of Law.
