The article focuses on mythological content of the play “The courage to kill” written by modern Swedish playwright Lars Nor?n. Comparative analysis reveals the conceptual similarity of its poetics with psychoanalytic interpretations of the myth of Oedipus creating by Sigmund Freud and Erich Fromm. The attention is also paid to the way the original content of this myth appears in the play. The conclusion says that the problem of son and father’s relationship revealed in the play is intentionally based on the myth of Oedipus and the concept of Oedipus complex.
