The aim of this work is to study and to describe the methods and ways of expressing the author's intention and the identification of the role of the national code in fiction literature. As a method of research a comparative analysis of reflection methods of Russian and German national codes in the German literary text (novel by Michael Ebmayer «Neuling») is applied. The article observes peculiarities of Russian national culture, which are reflected in the perception of the protagonist in the novel. Researching the possibilities of description of Russian realities through the point of view by a foreigner represents double interest for research: while commenting the lacunarity of national concept spheres connected with Russian reality, the author of the novel unwittingly shows the German national code, the descripton of which is the purpose of this article.
