The paper is devoted to the functions of classical and Old Testament allusions in German exile novel. It observes the writings of E.M. Remarque, L. Feuchtwanger and K. Mann. The research is performed in accordance with the best practices of mythocritic analysis. The connection is established between allusions on classical and Old Testament mythology, history and literature on the one hand and space, time and plot structure of the several exile novel samples on the other hand. It is also noticed how the former takes part in constructing the specific “exile POV” world. This research allows us to mind exile novel as a realistic genre under the strong influence of the mythogenesis traditions.
