The article observes the philosophical themes of A. Ilychevsky's novel «The Persian». The author explores the views of the main character, his approach to the meaning of the religious doctrines, and the idea of religion's «modernization».Upon conducting a comparative typological analysis, the author reveals significant similarities in the worldview of the main character of «The Persian» and the worldview of F.M. Dostoevsky's characters. The article analyses how A. Ilychevsky creatively transforms N.F. Fedorov's «The Philosophy of the common deed», the idea of a human’s resurrection through science. The author of the article explains how this concept is revealed on different levels - from the characters' views up to the plot level. The author concludes that on a superficial level the character’s views appear to be oriental, while on a deeper level they are linked to the Russian philosophical thought and F.M. Dostoevsky’s and N.F. Fedorov’s heritage.
