The goal of the paper is to research one of the key concepts of the English national sphere of concepts «home / house» in the novels by G. MacDonald, to analyze this concept functioning in the author’s English-Scottish worldview and its transformation in Christian context. The research is based on «Phantastes», «Lilith» and «Sir Gibbie» by G. MacDonald. Method of component semantic analysis and comparative typological method are used in the research. The paper examines the peculiarities of usage the lexemes «home» and «house» and the representation of the concept «home / house» micro-fields in the novels by G. MacDonald. It considers the place of the concept «home / house» in the author’s philosophical and religious worldview. The conclusion of the research is that the concept «home / house» in the novels by G. MacDonald extends its semantic field and includes connotations caused by the author’s individual worldview. The representation of the concept «home / house» in the novels by G. MacDonald is also connected with the opposition of «Englishness» and «Scottishness» because of the author’s bilingualism, his belonging to two national cultures.
