In line with communicative grammar and based on G.A. Zolotova's and A.A. Ivin's classifications, the author discusses the ability of each type to express the subject of speech, depending on the adjective's semantics and connotation. The author identifies subjectively coloured adjectives with the prefix ne- ( not-) - ( not- adjectives) as a separate semantic group. The purpose of the article is to establish the relation of various groups of not- adjectives to the category of evaluation. The author has identified a total of four groups of not- adjectives with various degrees of subjectivity. It has been established as a result of our research that the level of subjective colouring of an adjective is determined by the interaction of two factors: the grounds for evaluation and the type of adjective. Not- adjectives with an expressed internal evaluation have the greatest potential in terms of the subject expression.
