Lermontov is considered to be оne of the Russian authors who contributed many Caucasus and St.Petersburg texts to Russian literature, while the country estate occupies only a peripheral position in his work. Russian country estate becomes a place of action in his youth drama «Menschen und Leidenschaften» («People and Passions»), in a number of unfinished works of prose (the historical novel «Vadim», the sketch «I want to tell you»), some elements of the estate text can be also found in the novel «The Countess Ligovskaya». In the poet's early works, country estate is a place of collision of human passions. Sharp interpersonal and social conflicts lead to the character's death, the family falls apart, and the very way of life is destroyed. In Lermontov's mature works the focus shifts to the history of the formation of a personality in the privacy of the estate. Lermontov, who spent his childhood and youth in a landowner's estate, includes into his works many details of everyday life in the countryside, depicts psychological types and characteristic patterns of interaction and behavior. In the sketch «I Want to Tell You», new principles of the estate image are formed: the structure of description becomes more complex, different points of view on the subject of the image are correlated, some scenes from the life of the people are included.
