Since the early years of the Cold War, a wide campaign to discredit the anti-fascists in the military began in Italy. The author raises the question of censorship in relation to the eye-witness reports of former Italian prisoners of war and tries to give an accurate description of the problems of the Russian front's veterans, who became real victims of the ideological struggle against the USSR. In this paper, we consider the process of Captain Lamberti, the legendary com- mander of the battalion «Monte Cervino», as the most illustrative example of the campaign against Italian «anti- patriotic officers».
