| The article focuses on some issues of countering religious extremist organizations based on the ideas of Salafism and Wahhabism by operational units of the penitentiary system. An analysis of the above-mentioned issues' level of relevance is presented. We examine and characterize the main extremist Wahhabi and Salafi organizations operating in the territory of the Russian Federation, whose active participants are kept in prisons and detention facilities of the Fed- eral Penitentiary System. |
