Abstract
The aim of this article is to analyze some aspects of the English translation of the Bible made by the 16th-century reformer W. Tyndale. By using the method of textual analysis, the author demonstrates the Protestant nature of Tyndale’s translation, which is expressed primarily in the replacement of the Scripture’s traditional concepts by new terminology. The author notes the impact of W. Tyndale’s translation on all subsequent English translations of the Bible, including the Authorized translation of 1611.The article also draws attention to the fact that all the works of the English reformer were aimed at developing the correct approach to understanding the Holy Scripture. For Tyndale, the Bible had the status of the only source and criterion for the correctness of the judgment about all the events of ancient and contemporary history.
