Abstract
The article describes new trends in the policy of the Gulf Cooperation Council (the GCC). During and after the Arab spring, the members of this regional organization became leading actors of the Middle East region. They increased their activity in the resolution of regional conflicts. In their foreign policy, these states have come to rely on the «hard power», while at the early stages they used diplomatic methods and often acted as mediators in the resolution of regional conflicts. The aim of the GCC member states's hard line focused on resolving the crises in Yemen and Syria and fighting against the «Islamic State» is to maintain their position in the changing region. These changes occur due to the growing role of Iran, their main regional enemy, and the weakening of the US interest in resolving the problems of the Middle East.
