In this article, we consider negotiations between the Western Roman Empire and the Kingdom of the Visigoths concerning the ownership of some southern Gallic territories . A separate topic of the article is the stance with respect to these negotiations of the Gallic bishop Sidonius Apollinaris, who actively protested in his letters against the proposed demarcation options. We also examine the views of Ennodius, the author of Vita Epiphanii, where he described his hero's embassy to the court of King Euric.
