The article deals with the fiction time in the historical novel of the 19th century. Some peculiarities of recreation of the time as the chronotope component of Vs.S. Solovyov’s novel «The Voltairian» are considered. Four time layers are singled out in the temporal structure of the text: narrative time, plot time, chronicle/everyday time and historical time. Particular significance of the historical time determined by the genre peculiarity of the work is emphasized. The author has indicated the main ways of the historical time recreation in the novel: the novelist’s use of the historic dates; the years of the monarchs’ reign with the subsequent coronation of their successors; the indication of the exact age of some of the historical characters (including their birth, full age and death); the dates of G.R. Derzhavin’s poetic works creation; the dating of the imperial family members’ letters.
