The article analyzes the activities of parish guardianship societies of the Perm diocese in the late 19th and early 20th century that were aimed at supporting children. Some problems in organizing such activities and the methods used to solve them are considered, as well as the principles and forms of rendering help to the children from poor families. The paper will be of interest to those investigating the history of the Russian Orthodox Church and also to those engaged in organization of charitable, educational and social aid to children.
