This publication contains the memories of A.M. Shikinova, a nurse of the 243rd Infantry Division. These memories reflect various organizational, psychological and everyday life aspects of the medical battalion's work through the eyes of a participant of war-time events and contain some personal observations, including an assessment of supplies of medical equipment and materials to the front line. A memorable meeting with the hero pilot A. Maresiev is also described. The text is based on a diary, which A.M. Shikinova kept during her service in the medical battalion. The diary notes are part of the Shikinov family archive.
