The article deals with the shortcomings in the operation of the Bodaybo railroad. The author shows that the narrow-gauge railway gradually transformed from a unique and reliable transport link to a secondary line. Most problems of this railroad were the result of inactivity of the affiliated organizations responsible for its procurement. The management of the Lenzoloto trust ignored the opportunity to stimulate narrow-gauge traffic in this area. The chronic failure in the delivery of service parts produced the domino effect. All types of rail and rolling-stock repair did not meet the deadlines. It is also noted in the paper that some shortcomings derived from the personnel's mistakes due to its low level of qualification. The organization of passenger traffic was inadequate, and there were many complaints from the citizens. From the au-thor's point of view, the closing of the Bodaybo railroad looks quite logical.
