In this paper, the objective source of legal consciousness is identified as a contradiction between legal actuality as a sphere where the essence of law is expressed, on the one hand, and legal reality as a sphere of immediate being of legal phenomena, on the other. We substantiate the distinction between legal consciousness and legal practical thinking, which makes part of the legal reality. The role of legal consciousness in the process of transformation of legal reality to legal actuality is revealed.
