Abstract
The aim of the article is to analyze the significance of Taiwan's 2016 elections in the context of the relations between mainland China and Taiwan. Special attention is given to the influence of these elections on foreign policy of the USA. This article reflects some findings of the research project focusing on the relations between mainland China and Taiwan which is being conducted at the UNN Institute of International Relations and World History.
