The article is concerned with the system of philosophy of Hellenistic Bosporus as a phenomenon in the Kingdom's social and intellectual life. Based on written and epigraphical data, the authors draw the conclusion that the leading Hellenistic philosophies were well-known to the Bosporians; among those schools of philosophy, stoicism could be considered particularly popular due to both its approach to difficult circumstances of that period and the political ambition of Bosporan kings. |
