This article examines the descriptive lexical units of the Lak language denoting males and females. The data for our analysis were collected from the literature and the press and also included the materials of a survey conducted among Lak speakers (the gender of the authors was always taken into account). In general, the choice of lexical means reflects the well-known stereotypes and notions about the distribution of men's and women's social roles that have a long tradition and are rooted in the past of the Lak people.
