The paper addresses the underexplored questions of administrative and territorial division of the Muscovite State in the second half of the 16th and early 17th century. The aim of the research is to reveal the reasons of territorial reorganizations in the Eastern Zamoskovie during that period. We focus on the Suzdal uyezd, which was actively involved in those processes. During the period under study, three new uyezds - Shuya, Lukh and Kineshma - emerged out of the Suzdal uyezd. At the same time, a large territory of Stan Ryapolovsky, a former part of the Vladminir uyezd, was turned over to the Suzdal uyezd. These processes were determined by different historic, social, economic and political factors. Unfortunately, due to the scarce information resources, some questions are impossible to answer, and some conclusions are hypothetical.
